Edit Products
First of all you need to create a category and then a product.
Categories
To add a new category click on the ' Add New Category' link. Once you have created the categories and subcategories you could add them on the menu by clicking on the 'Create Menu' link. To undo this click on 'Delete Menu'.
The standard Category Module uses the Tree View, this module has really pour performances with thousands categories to fix this click here
To edit an existing category, select the category and then on the SDN Product List module, click on the 'Edit this Category' link.
NOTE: the 'Order' field determines the order in the list. So the order in the Category List is first by Order and then by Category Name.
  • If they delete a Category all its products are moved in the selected category in 'Move to'
  • By clicking the 'Add Sub-Category' link a new sub-category is added.
  • There is no limit in the number of sub-levels.
  • In the HTML Text you could add what to show when the Categories are shown in a Table Format. This is used when, at the begining, they want to show a list of categories with some photos and description and then by clicking on one of those it will show the list of its products. To switch from the Standard to the Table Format, click on the Category Layout link
Products
To Add New or Edit an existing Product, select first the category and then:
  • Click on 'Add New Product' to create a new product.
  • Click on the near the Model Name to edit an existing one.
A product has the following properties:
  • Product Type: by default a product is 'Shippable'. It also can be set as Downloadable. In this case if all the products in the cart are Downloadable the Shipping Cost is automatically set up equal to zero.

  • Extra Details Link, this opens another page where you could setup other details such as: a very long description, a URL to redirect the customer to another page and a link to Show/Download a File previously uploaded using the DNN File Manager. This feature is optional to see more details about it click here
  • Model Name
  • Model Number
  • Order, this determines the order of the products in the list. So the list is ordered first by Order and then by Model Name.
  • Unit Price: this is the actual sales price if there is no special price, no pricing list and no discount applied.
  • Pricing: you can apply a Pricing on the product, for more info about it click on Pricing List
  • Discount: you can apply a Discount on the product, for more info about it click Discount
  • Special Price: this is the actual sales price, if it is different from zero.
  • VAT: you can apply a VAT on the product, for more info about it click on VAT
  • Description, with the Rich Text Editor.
  • Attribute1 (in this example is size), Attribute2 (in this example is Colour), Attribute3 (in this example is Format): to enable them just tick the box. To see how to set them up click on Attributes
  • Weight: used to calcolate the shipping rates. Invisible if equal to zero.
  • 5 Product Images selected from an Archive Images. If there is not picture it does not show a broken link. For more info click on Archive Images. You can specify the size of a particular picture, if this is not specified it picks up the Image Sizes set up in the Image Sizes Page.
  • In Front Window?: tick this box and it will show the 'description, if it is in Front Window'. N.B. To see it you also need to add the SDN Front Window module in a DNN page. Could be edited with the Rich Text Editor.
  • Visible: tick this box and anyone will see this product, otherwise only an Administrator of the product will do.
  • PayPal Subscription: tick this box and the product could be available for PayPal subscription more...
Product Admin
This page makes easier the administration of the Products.
In this page you can filter the products for category, brand and serch for specific text. You can also import bulk product. Please note the size of the pictures is the same as the ones for the Archive Images specified in the Site Settings page.
Editing the Number of Products per Row in Product List and Search Pages
Select a category that contains products and on the Product List module click on the Edit Page Layout link.
Set the values for Number of Products per Row and Number of Rows
Update the new settings.
